I went to a Meijer’s Store to run a fax. The lady behind the counter said sure we can do it. After the first attempt I was informed that the line was busy. I explained I had to go to work would it be ok if I left the fax and they run it until it went through.
She said yes no problem. Then I asked her what if they don’t get it through? She told me I would get a refund. Then I asked her for a receipt and she said I would not get one as the confirmation page was my receipt.
I then remarked well how do I get one if the fax hasn’t gone through? She said my paperwork was then my receipt. I walked away and proceeded to ask for a manager.
The manager came over to where I was standing and more or less told me the same thing. I told her I was leaving the fax with them with hopes that they might be able to get it through but if they couldn’t I needed something to prove I left one with them so I could get a refund. She wrote me out a slip with the phone number on it so I could call to find out if the fax went through. She also told me I could get the confrimation number on the phone.
Around 7 pm that night I was informed that yes the fax had gone through. When I asked for my confirmation number, however, I was told I had to come in and pick up the papers to get that number. I told them I would be in around 9 to 9:30 pm after I got off of work.
When I went in at 9:10 pm to get the papers the man behind the counter said “I got a message for ya.” I wondered what that could be. After getting the papers he grumpily told me the supervisor said they would do this for me this time but never again. If the fax doesn’t go through I would get my money back and would have to return to try it again later.
I was appalled. After all I had asked earlier if leaving it till it went through was ok and was told ok. Not only that but if it is the policy why didn’t the manager tell me when I asked her for a receipt? This man was rather nasty to me to when he delivered his message. After all I was the customer!
I have resolved never to shop at another Meijer store again. Their policies change to suit their moods.
Their check cashing policies are not posted and they refuse to cash a payroll check that has been cut from an out of state bank and there is no signs to that effect. The sign only says check cashing. If I were from out of state and was buying goods I am sure they would accept my out of state personal check.
Thank you for letting me let off steam and telling you about my complaint.
