Dear Amy,

Just as you suspected the clerk is in error. Meijer has been known to show customers only a portion of the scanner law. The portion of the law you want to show them is Section 445.353 #2 lists the requirements that do not apply, you will see that it says nothing there about "sale items" being exempted.

In the following item (Section 445.353 #3), gives Meijer the option of not pricing 25 classes of items, this exemption applies to the store, not to customers.

I recommend you print of a complete copy of the Michigan Scanner Law and take a copy of it with you to the store and show them their error. Others have been successful in getting them to obey the law, once they have had their error pointed out.

Best wishes
