I’m a hospital employee who works from 7:00pm unti 7:00 am a 12 hours shift. So, I normally do all of my shopping during the early morning hours.
Well, that was my normal routine untl the other day during visit to the Meijer store located in Benton Harbor, MI.
I work in Dowagiac, Michigan, which is about 25 miles from Benton Harbor. During my grocery shopping one morning at Meijer, I noticed that in some isles they were waxing the floors so, I called the manager and asked, “Can I get down some of the isles that aren’t waxed yet because I just drove 25 miles to get here.”
I was told “no” because the guys got off to a late start while waxing the floor.
I’m sorry, but, it’s not my fault that they started late waxing the floors, all I know is that I traveled 25 miles, only to be told that I would not to be able to do my shopping! I don’t think it was right for them (management) to not allow me access. You do realize the gas prices aren’t very low anymore?
I left the store very disappoint and drove over to Wal-Mart to do my shopping. I will not enter Meijer again with out some type of explanation for their actions. I was a loyal Meijer customer.

Dear T. Bowman,
I’m afraid you are much nicer than I am. I would have just went ahead and shopped, not bothering to ask.
If stopped I would have had that person play “fetch” and get the things I need.
I’ve heard of them block off an isle or two but never the entire store. How stupid. You really should complain to the store manager or their corporate offices. I’m certain they won’t be happy to hear about your experience.
Thanks for writing.
