OR: Stop Thieves!
Posted: 2007-03-03. Categories: Oregon, Wal-mart

I am hopping angry at Wal-mart in Oregon. I returned two items that I had purchased and lost the receipt to. The tags were still on the items and had never been removed.

One item was on sale for $7.00 and that is what I paid for it, however it was on sale now for $3.00 and Wal-mart only gave me $3.00, therefore stealing $4.00 from me. I am so angry about that.

Today I put an item in my cart that had a price showing of $10.00 but rang up $20.00 and when we checked, the clerk said, “Oh someone just turned the price around wrong. The other side of the bin was $20 and the items were on both sides of the bin.

I told her I thought they had to sell it to me for $10 and she said, Oh NO — We only can give you $3.00 off! So I did not purchase the item. Isn’t it a Federal Law that they have to sell the item to you as it is marked?

Please write to me at cxxxxxxxxx@yahoo.com and let me know. These thieves need to be stopped!

Sincerely,

    Dear Linda,

I can totally understand your frustration but I can’t say it enough… Save your Receipts!

It is very easy to remove a sale sticker, the store has no way of knowing how much you actually paid, unless you present your receipt. You really can’t blame them.

Get yourself a large envelope and put all your receipts in it everytime you shop. It will be a pain to sort through but will save you loads of frustration. We make it a habit to save every single receipt from every single purchase we make.

As for selling items that have been mismarked. They are required to sell it as marked, unless they have reason to believe you are trying to commit fraud. You can make a complaint with Wal-mart’s corporate office, if that does produce results — and it probably won’t, you can file a complaint with the Oregon State Attorney General’s office.

You might also consider finding some where else to shop. If you do, be sure to let Wal-mart know that you will no longer shop there and why!

    Thank you for writing.
