Doubleday Large Print
Customer Cancels Membership
I have been meaning to contact Doubleday Large Print Book Club to cancel my membership but realized I had not received any mailings from them for several months — at least three. Everyone who has been a member here, knows that you actually receive more than one mailing a month.
After realizing that, I thought they had dropped me since I haven’t ordered anything in over a year. Imagine my amazement today when I received two books from them (they will be going back). I will be mailing them to cancel my membership, as requested on their website. I will keep you posted as to how that goes.
Sincerely,
Sherri Whatley

My mother suffers from Dementia. She signed up for two Large Print Book club memberships. I found one, paid it in full ordering two last books. I then received threatening notices about a second account. I experienced the same issue where there is no customer service, no contact number and no way to speak with anyone.
I sent a letter showing the two different account numbers to the only address I had, the bill payment center. A letter came later essentially saying nothing more than she still owed for the second account.
What angers me is not the outstanding amount, but the way in which they prey upon the elderly. They blatantly take advantage of an elder’s inability to remember, or figure out what to do in this situation. If they persist, I am filing a complaint with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission).
