NEW YORK (AP) — Verizon Wireless, the country’s largest cellphone company, is introducing a fee for every payment subscribers make over the phone or online with their credit cards.
Charging you extra to pay your bills? First congress effectively causes banks to charge you a fee to have an account. Then they set an artificially low limit to credit card reimbursement rates so banks and credit card issuers raise rates and relay the fees onto their users. Now Verizon is going to charge what amounts to a 5% transaction fee for having the audacity to refuse to pay automatically? I wonder when they’ll become aware of California law which explicitly prohibits transaction fees for credit card payments.
