Being overcharged at my local Wal-Mart store in Ionia, Michigan is nothing new to me but, I’m very upset that every time I shop there I am overcharged for something.
Today I bought a dress pattern for my daughter’s birthday. It is clearly marked $4.98 but the scanner charged me $5.96.
When I brought this to the attention of customer service (as I didn’t notice until I looked at my receipt while bagging my groceries), I was told that I was not entitled to a scanner reward because the dollar amount of my loss was less than one dollar.
I was only given the the difference between the two amounts. Is it true that the scanner error needs to be over a one dollar loss to me in order to be given the reward?
Thank You for your time!

Dear Elle,
No, the clerk was mistaken. There is no minimum amount mentioned in Michigan Law. You should speak with a manager or call their 800 number and make a complaint.
