I have a question. I work for a Wal-Mart in Michigan.
If a customer purchases an item that is mismarked and pays for the item with their food stamp card or cash assistance card are they still entitled to the Michigan Bounty? We figured that they are only entitled to the difference because they should not be able to make a profit off of the government’s money.

Dear Nadia,
I have a question for you. Does our government have any money? You see all the money the government has came from us lowly taxpayers. People who receive food stamps are not living off the government, they are living off those of us who work and pay taxes.
The way I understand the law, unless something is expressly forbidden under the authority of law, it is not illegal. I found no mention of food stamps anywhere in the michigan scanner code.
Why should food stamp recipients be treated any different than anyone else? Besides, aren’t people who use food stamps considered needy? And doesn’t Wal-mart claim to save shoppers hundreds of dollars each year, in their recent advertisements?
Why wouldn’t Wal-mart want to do the right thing, follow the law and pay the bounty when people using food stamps are overcharged on their grocery bill, due to no fault of their own?
Wal-mart is a multi-billion dollar conglomerate that has put thousands, if not millions of ma and pa shops out of business, not to mention all the other businesses that have went under due to Wal-mart’s nickle and diming local honest hardworking people. They should have a pricing guarantee of their own, over and above Michigan’s poorly written law.
I shop at Wal-mart because there are items found there that I can’t buy locally and I personally hate Wal-mart. They offer terrible customer service. Asking an employee for help is like asking for the sun to shine at night. They are totally clueless.
The items they carry simply are not made to last. We have purchased three VCR/DVD players and not one of them lasted more than 90-days. The one we purchased at Sears has lasted over a year now and believe it or not, it cost the same as the one from Wal-mart. The difference is, it wasn’t made in China or Taiwan.
I hope Sam Walton rolls over in his grave, cause his kids are greedy and do not know the value of a dollar. If they had to earn their living they would have more respect for the working class people in this country and serve them with dignity and respect. Instead we are ripped off at every corner.
What is wrong with you people?
Don’t buy your Thanksgiving Day Turkey at Wal-Mart folks. If you have a Save Mart in your neighborhood, shop there. If you spend $99.00 (at one time), Save Mart will give you a Whole Turkey or Turkey Breast (up to 15 lbs.) Free! Any they are guaranteed to be the very best.
